Changes To Your Next Visit
Dear Lucy's Veterinary Care Family,
As we monitor the situation with COVID-19, we want to continue providing the best patient care that we can as long as we can. Unfortunately, Cobb County is in the most affected area of Georgia as far as number of confirmed cases of the virus as of this weekend.
We are implementing changes to our normal protocols to protect you as well as our staff and their families.
Since we travel to several homes in any given day, it is going to be our priority that we are not transferring any contagion from one client site to another. The best way we can do this is by making some changes that would affect the chance that we would be exposed to something that we could then carry into another home.
We do not always know the health status of all individuals who may live in a home and may not always be aware that there is an elderly or immunocompromised individual in the home and we want to protect you as much as we want to care for your pets.
Key Changes:
Notify us before visit if you or other family members are sick: We do ask that if you even think you might be sick, please make us aware so that we can wear appropriate protective equipment (gloves, face masks...). If you or anyone in your household have flu-like symptoms or suspect that you might have COVID-19, please reschedule non-critical appointments.
Pets must be treated in our mobile clinic: When we arrive at your home, we will call you and ask that you bring your pet outside or to your door and we will provide all of their care in our mobile clinic. This keeps us in minimal contact with you and your home to minimize the chance of any viral particles being picked up or left behind. We will need all dogs to be on leashes and cats to be in carriers. We realize this may pose some difficulties, since many of our cat patients do not like the carrier. Our goal is provide as low stress of veterinary care as possible, but feel that we need to do these measures in the short term to protect our human clients.
Interactions must be held outside: We want to have the same conversations with you about your pet, but at least for the time being will ask that those conversations are held outside (front porch, driveway, open garage).
Additional Sanitation Measures: We will be taking additional sanitizing measures within the mobile clinic and do ask that clients not enter the van. We will be wrapping any prescription bottle label with packing tape so that you can wipe the surface of the bottle with a sanitizing wipe when it enters your home as you see fit. We will also be sanitizing our pill counter prior to using it for counting any of your pet's medication so that there will be as little chance as possible that we could transmit the virus to any one in your home who might handle your pet's medication.
Sanitation During Payment: When it is time to check out, we will ask that you read out the number from your credit/debit card and we will key it in. We will also initial the signature screen for you to eliminate any contact.
We appreciate your understanding as we do the best we can to care for your pets and protect you, your family, and our staff.
